My Obsession + Depeche Mode + Battlestar Galactica = A New Video For You
There is a show on the sci-fi channel called Battlestar Galactica” (BSG) that I’ve become, well, obsessed with. The show is a remake of an older series, and you can get a good description of it at Wikipedia. But for our purposes, all you need to know is that the show is in part about humans being at war with a cybernetic race known as the “cylons”. I know, I know. If you’re generally not into sci-fi, it might sound lame to you, but trust me, this show is awesome.
So, one day after watching several episodes of the show, I was driving around in my car listening to Depeche Mode’s song “Enjoy the Silence”. I was singing along and thinking about BSG, and I found myself singing “enjoy the cylons” instead of “enjoy the silence”. I mentioned this to my friend and excellent music and video producer, Jarome Matthew (who is also a huge BSG fan), and we laughed and agreed I was getting a little too into the show. Then there was a pause and he was like, “We should totally make a video with you singing “enjoy the cylons”!” I thought about it for a moment, and, once I determined he was actually serious and not just making fun of me, was like, “Cool!” I mean its not every day a girl gets to cover one of her fave Depeche Mode songs.
So, here is the result. Jarome did all the audio production and video editing. If you’ve never seen the show, the video probably won’t make much sense to you. But I suggest you watch anyway because you can hear me singing super low and channeling my inner Dave Gahan. Note: the show is action/ adventure, so there are some violent scenes in the video. You can turn away and just listen if you don’t wanna see them :).

OMG!! I have been super intrigued to see/hear this since you mentioned it in january. Wow. Seriously, I don’t know where to begin. I love this song. And your vocals with the remix ROCK IT! Bravo to Jerome. And WHO did the video editing? I have only seen the beginning of the show, but watching this gave me the chills, it was scary, cool and hot. OK, i think I need to watch BSG now. This is totally rad!

Well, that was pretty darn cool! I am so impressed, I might have to watch that show again (although it was disturbing to see Edward James Olmos getting shot). You may end up getting a gig with TV productions!
I’ve got another “cover” idea I have to talk to Jarome about. Remember “The Clash” and their “Rock the Casbah”? Well, I’m thinking of a remake targeted at all my business-owner friends called “Lock the Cashbox”. Good idea, heh? (wink)

I’m not a big fan of the show yet (but I DO like it). I’ve only watched season 3 and from what I heard, it was the worst one. Once they killed off Starbuck, I threw my hands up in the air and haven’t checked it out since. I’ll have to watch the earlier stuff and get caught up. AWESOME cover! DM is one of my favorite bands. The video worked out well, great editing! Added to my favorites on youtube!

I am a big fan of BSG too. Your vocals are great, and Jarome put together a terrific video! Great tale about how it came to be too. It’s very apparent that you had a lot of fun on that project. I hope this video helps you to find an even wider audience for your own material! Cheers!

I have never watched BSG, but I am ridiculously crazy about Depeche Mode, so I loved listening to Enjoy the Cylons!

This is too funny! I used to watch BSG with a friend but haven’t seen it in a few years. Loved the early ones for sure. You’re cracking me up. Glad you had fun with it.
