Whirlwind

Things have been so busy lately. Such a whirlwind! I’ve been getting ready to leave for my shows in L.A. and San Diego later this week. I’ll be doing shows and open mics for the next couple of weeks in Cali. I am so excited for this experience!

But preparing for it has been so busy that I almost haven’t had time to be excited. Things have been busy with coaching work, music work, community-building work, family stuff, and prep for the trip. I will still be working when I’m out there, so it won’t be a vacation or anything, but I hope it will be a break from the stress of everyday life in some ways. My goal is to be present in each moment and enjoy each moment of the experience—-both on stage and off. I also want to play REALLY well and communicate my message and emotions in a powerful way. All of this will require prayer, trust, courage, and letting go. I am ready!

I’m planning to post photos and videos of my adventures and shows while I’m travelling, so stay tuned for regular updates. I’m off now to do some more packing for the trip….

Hey Laura. Be nice to the open mic hosts. I don’t know about CA, but here in MI, the only people who came to open mic were the ones who were performing. I ran it for a year, and did a terrible job as MC, but at least made friends with all the players. :-) Those open mic hosts have to put up with a lot of bad music, so please go in there and play them somthing good. They’ll be so happy for it. :-)
    Hope you’re well,
    Ian

I’m sorry things have been so crazy lately Laura, and I really hope you get some kind of a break from the chaos in MN. And to Laura’s friends in Minneapolis, I know Laura doesn’t let on that she near passing out from exhaustion, but these days, she often is, so please, drag her out to a movie or dinner or something to give her a break from her demanding life once in a while!

Oh, and I know your just getting going doing shows in LA, but I’ve seen you perform Laura, and you are WAY too good for open mic’s, even in la la land IMHO.

Hi Ian—thanks for your comment. My first open mic last night was really great! Lots of very nice people and lovely music. And Jarome, thanks for your kind words and encouragement. And I am lucky to have friends like you and my Minneapolis amigos to support me :).
